Description
Shelves are rectangular plates, for fixing between four slotted angles, to give it a shape called Rack. As per IS : 3764 / 1983 and IS : 1883 / 1983, The shelves shall have the following specifications.

Its steel should confirm to IS : 1079 / 1973 or IS : 513 / 1973, and thickness of shelves shall be 1 mm. It shall have lipped flanges, width of flange being 30 mm and depth of the lip ( inside lip ) 15 mm. It shall have 8 mm corresponding holes for fixing with slotted angles ( which also have 8 mm holes ). It shall have 8 mm holes for Gussets ( corners ). Its width shall be 900 mm and depth 300 mm, 400 mm, 500 mm and 600 mm. The ground clearance shall be 45 mm.

Our shelves confirm to this specification. But considering the demand and uses , we are fabricating shelves in about 100 sizes, as is apparent from our price list. The length of our shelves vary from 300 mm ( 12 " ) to 1175 mm ( 47 " ).and depth from 150 mm ( 6" ) To 1050 mm ( 42 " ). Construction of shelves may be 6 fold or 8 fold. 8 fold shelves have more load bearing capacity than 6 fold. We generally fabricate shelves of 6 fold. 8 fold is fabricated on specific demand. As per IS specification, the width of flange shall be 30 mm. We can fabricate shelves having thickness of flange 36 mm, on specific demand. This flange is calledDickson flange. 36 mm flange has more load bearing capacity than 30 mm flange and hence a bit costlier.
